Getting started

How buying and activating an eSIM works.

How buying and activating an eSIM works

1. Choose your plan — Pick a data plan for your destination. 2. Checkout securely — Pay by card via Stripe — your payment details stay protected. 3. Get your QR code — Your activation QR code and setup instructions arrive by email instantly. 4. Scan and connect — Scan the QR code in your phone's settings before you travel — no physical SIM needed.

Which devices are compatible?

Most eSIM-capable phones work, including iPhone XS or later and recent Pixel and Galaxy models. Check Settings → About → SIMs (or Cellular) on your device to confirm eSIM support before you buy.

Can I use my phone number for calls and texts?

eSIM data plans provide mobile data only. Keep your physical SIM active for calls and texts, or use a data-based calling app.

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM is a SIM card built into your phone. Instead of inserting a plastic card, you download a mobile plan to it, usually by scanning a QR code. Your phone can hold several eSIMs alongside your normal SIM, so you can add a travel data plan without removing anything.

When should I buy and install my eSIM?

Buy it whenever suits you, and install it a day or two before you leave while you're on Wi-Fi at home. Installing doesn't use any of your plan: the days count from when the eSIM first connects to a network in the country it covers. An eSIM you've bought should be installed and used within about six months.

How do I check my phone supports eSIM?

iPhone: go to Settings → General → About. If you see a "Digital SIM" or "EID" entry, your iPhone supports eSIM. iPhones sold in mainland China generally don't. Android: dial *#06#. If an EID number is shown, your phone supports eSIM. You can also look for "Add eSIM" under Settings → Network & Internet (or Connections) → SIMs.

Does my phone need to be unlocked?

Yes. A phone locked to one carrier will refuse an eSIM from anyone else. Most phones bought outright are unlocked; phones on a contract or bought from a carrier may not be. To check on iPhone, go to Settings → General → About and look for "Carrier Lock: No SIM restrictions". On Android, ask your carrier or check Settings → About phone. Please check before you buy.

Which countries can I use my eSIM in?

Each plan lists where it works. A country plan works in that country only. A regional or multi-country plan works in every country on its list: tap "See all countries" on the plan to check before you buy. Browse every destination from the store's Destinations page.

Should I choose a country plan or a regional plan?

If you're visiting one country, a country plan is usually the better price. If your trip crosses borders, a regional plan covers every country on its list with one eSIM, so you don't need to buy and install one per country.

Can I buy an eSIM for someone else?

Yes. Enter their email address at checkout and the install details go straight to them. If you use your own email instead, forward them the confirmation email. Each eSIM can only be installed on one phone, so make sure it's installed on theirs.

We are travelling as a group. Do we need one eSIM each?

Yes, every phone needs its own eSIM. Buy one plan per phone; each purchase has its own install details. If you'd rather share one plan, one person can turn on Personal Hotspot and the others connect over Wi-Fi.

Installing your eSIM

Step by step for iPhone, Pixel, Samsung and other Android phones.

How do I install my eSIM on iPhone?

Go to Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Service) → Add eSIM → Use QR Code if you're scanning from another device, or Enter Details Manually to paste the activation code from your confirmation email or storefront page instead. Keep Wi-Fi on during setup — it can take a minute to finish.

How do I install my eSIM on Android?

Go to Settings → Network & Internet (or Connections) → SIMs → Add eSIM (some phones show this as "Add mobile plan" or "Download a SIM instead?"). Choose Scan a QR Code if you're scanning from another device, or the manual/text entry option to paste the activation code from your confirmation email or storefront page instead. Menu names vary slightly by manufacturer (Samsung, Pixel, etc.) but the flow is the same.

My QR code won't scan — what do I do?

Turn up your screen brightness if you're scanning from another device, and make sure the QR code is fully in frame rather than cropped by a screenshot. If it still won't scan, your confirmation email and storefront page also show the same activation code as copyable text — choose "Enter Details Manually" in your device's eSIM setup and paste it in instead.

I installed my eSIM but have no service — what now?

First, toggle Airplane Mode on and off to force your phone to re-register with the network. Next, confirm the eSIM line (not your physical SIM) is set as your data line: iOS — Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data, Android — Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → tap the eSIM → enable "Use for mobile data." Carrier registration can take a few minutes after activation, especially right after landing — give it 10–15 minutes before trying again.

Can I install without scanning the QR code?

Yes, two ways: 1. Quick install: your confirmation email has a button for iPhone (iOS 17.4 or later) and for Android (Android 10 or later). Open the email on the phone you're installing on and tap it. 2. Enter the details by hand: in your phone's eSIM setup choose "Enter Details Manually" (or similar) and paste the SM-DP+ address and activation code from your email or your My eSIMs page.

How do I install my eSIM on a Google Pixel?

1. Connect to Wi-Fi. 2. Go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add SIM (on some versions "+" next to SIMs). 3. Choose "Download a SIM instead?" or "Set up eSIM", then scan the QR code, or tap "Need help?" → "Enter it manually" to paste the activation code. 4. Follow the prompts, then turn on the new SIM and "Mobile data" for it, and turn on Roaming for it when you arrive.

How do I install my eSIM on a Samsung Galaxy?

1. Connect to Wi-Fi. 2. Go to Settings → Connections → SIM manager (or SIM card manager) → Add eSIM. 3. Choose "Scan QR code from service provider", or "Enter activation code" to paste the code from your email. 4. Confirm, then in SIM manager set the new eSIM for Mobile data, and turn on Data roaming for it when you arrive.

Where do I find my SM-DP+ address and activation code?

Both are in your confirmation email, under the QR code, and on your My eSIMs page under Install. The SM-DP+ address looks like a web address; the activation code is a longer string of letters and numbers. Copy each exactly, without spaces.

Do I need an internet connection to install?

Yes. Your phone downloads the eSIM, so it needs Wi-Fi (or another working data connection) during setup. It only takes a minute or two. Once installed, the eSIM doesn't need Wi-Fi.

Can I install my eSIM after I arrive?

Yes, as long as you can get on Wi-Fi: at the airport, your hotel or a café. If there's no Wi-Fi, a travel companion can share their Personal Hotspot with you for the minute it takes. Installing at home before you go is the easiest option.

Which settings should I choose when setting up on iPhone?

When iPhone asks: • Label: pick "Travel" (or any name) for the new eSIM so it's easy to tell apart. • Default line: keep your usual number for calls and messages. • iMessage & FaceTime: keep your usual number. • Cellular Data: choose the travel eSIM. Turn off "Allow Cellular Data Switching" so your phone doesn't fall back to your home SIM's data while you're away.

Can I install the same eSIM on another phone, or install it again?

Usually not. An eSIM can be installed once, on one phone. If you delete it, it generally can't be downloaded again, so don't remove it until your trip is over and the plan has ended. If you've deleted it by mistake or need to move to a different phone, contact us before buying another: we'll check what can be done.

Using your eSIM abroad

Roaming, hotspot, networks and making your data last.

Do I need to turn on data roaming?

Yes, on the travel eSIM. The eSIM connects to local networks as a roaming service, so it needs Data Roaming on to work. This doesn't cost anything extra: you've already paid for the plan. iPhone: Settings → Cellular → tap the travel eSIM → Data Roaming on. Android: Settings → Network & Internet (or Connections) → SIMs → the travel eSIM → Roaming on.

How do I avoid charges from my home carrier?

Set the travel eSIM as your mobile data line and turn Data Roaming OFF on your home SIM. Your home SIM can stay switched on so you still receive calls and texts, but your carrier may charge for those abroad, so check their rates. On iPhone also turn off "Allow Cellular Data Switching".

Can I use Personal Hotspot to share my data?

Yes. Hotspot (tethering) works on every plan and uses your plan's data. If it won't turn on, set the travel eSIM as your mobile data line, then try again; if it still won't, contact us.

Can I use WhatsApp, FaceTime and other calling apps?

Yes. Any app that works over the internet works on your eSIM's data: WhatsApp, FaceTime, Messenger, Zoom and the rest. WhatsApp and iMessage stay linked to your usual number because they belong to your account, not to the SIM providing data.

Which network will I connect to, and will I get 5G?

Your phone picks the best available network automatically. A country plan lists its networks on the plan, along with the fastest generation it supports (for example 4G or 5G). Whether you get 5G also depends on your phone and the coverage where you are.

How do I choose a network manually?

If your phone keeps losing signal, picking a network yourself often helps. iPhone: Settings → Cellular → the travel eSIM → Network Selection → turn off Automatic and pick a network. Android: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → the travel eSIM → turn off "Automatically select network" and pick one. For a country plan, choose one of the networks listed on your plan.

How can I make my data last longer?

• Turn on Low Data Mode (iPhone) or Data Saver (Android) for the travel eSIM. • Set app updates, photo backups and cloud sync to Wi-Fi only. • Download maps, music and shows before you go. • Lower video quality in streaming apps. • Turn off Background App Refresh for apps you don't need.

What should I do with my eSIM after my trip?

Switch mobile data back to your home SIM and turn its roaming back on if you'd turned it off. You can leave the travel eSIM switched off; it costs nothing. Only delete it once its plan has ended and you're sure you won't top it up, because a deleted eSIM usually can't be installed again.

Plans & payments

Paying, top-ups, discount codes and refunds.

What is the refund policy?

If you haven't installed your eSIM yet, you can get a full refund within 30 days of purchase: ask in the support chat or contact us. Once an eSIM is installed on a phone it counts as used, because it can't be moved or reused, so after that refunds are considered case by case, for example if the service didn't work or you used almost none of the data.

When does my data plan start?

Your plan starts the moment you activate the eSIM on your device, not when you buy it — so you can buy ahead of your trip.

What if I run out of data?

Top up anytime from your My eSIMs page, or from this store with your eSIM's ICCID. The data goes onto the eSIM you already have, so there's nothing new to install.

How can I pay?

By card through a secure checkout page. Depending on your device and browser you may also see Apple Pay or Google Pay. Your card details are handled by the payment provider and never reach this store.

Which currency will I be charged in?

The currency shown next to the price on the plan, which is the amount you pay at checkout. If your card is in a different currency, your bank converts it and may add a foreign transaction fee.

Are there any extra charges or subscriptions?

No. You pay once for the plan you choose, at the price shown at checkout. There's no subscription, no automatic renewal and no charge when your data runs out: the eSIM simply stops until you top up.

How do I use a discount code?

On the plan page, enter your code in the "Have a code?" box below the email field and tap Apply. The discounted price is shown before you go to checkout. One code per order.

My payment was declined. What can I do?

Check the card number, expiry date and security code, and that your bank allows online and overseas payments. Some banks ask you to approve the payment in their app: look for a notification. You can also try another card or Apple Pay / Google Pay. You're only charged when a payment succeeds.

How do I top up?

Open your My eSIMs page (from the link in any of our emails, or "My eSIMs" at the top of the store), choose your eSIM and tap Top up, then pick a plan and pay. The extra data goes onto the eSIM you already have, so there's nothing to install. You can also top up from the store's home page with your eSIM's ICCID.

What happens when my data runs out?

The eSIM stops connecting to the internet; you're never charged extra. We email you when you've used about 80% of your data so you can top up in time. Top up from your My eSIMs page and you're connected again, with no reinstalling.

What happens to unused data when my plan ends?

Unused data doesn't carry over once a plan's days are up. If you'll still need data, top up before it ends: we email you about two days before the end date as a reminder.

How do I ask for a refund?

Open your My eSIMs page, choose the eSIM and tap "Request a refund". If it hasn't been installed and you bought it within the last 30 days, the refund is issued straight away. Otherwise the request goes to our team, who will reply by email. You can also ask in the chat, or use the form at the bottom of the Help page.

How long does a refund take?

Refunds go back to the card you paid with. Once issued, they usually appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank. Your bank statement may show it as a separate credit rather than removing the original payment.

I bought the wrong plan. Can I change it?

If you haven't installed it yet, ask for a refund within 30 days from your My eSIMs page and buy the plan you need. If it's already installed, keep it and top up with the plan you need, or contact us and we'll look at it with you.

Your eSIMs

The My eSIMs page, our emails and getting in touch.

How do I check my data usage?

Open My eSIMs at the top of the store (or tap "Manage your eSIM" in any of our emails): it shows how much data each eSIM has left. We also email you once you've used about 80% of your allowance, so you'll know before you run out.

What can I do on the My eSIMs page?

My eSIMs shows every eSIM you've bought from this store: whether it's ready, how much data is left, and your install details (QR code and codes) if you need to install it. From there you can top up, have the install details emailed to you again, or ask for a refund. Find it under "My eSIMs" at the top of the store.

How do I open My eSIMs?

Tap the "Manage your eSIM" button in any of our emails: it signs you in directly and works for 30 days. Or tap "My eSIMs" at the top of the store, enter the email you bought with and type the 6-digit code we send you. There's no password to remember.

I've lost my QR code or confirmation email

Open My eSIMs and either tap Install to see the QR code and codes again, or tap "Email me the install details" to get the confirmation email again. It's always sent to the email address used at checkout. You can also ask in the chat.

Which emails will I get from you?

• Straight after you pay: your eSIM with the QR code and install details. • If it isn't installed 3 days later: a reminder, with the details again. • When you've used about 80% of your data: a low-data alert. • About 2 days before your plan ends: a reminder in case you want to top up. • After a top-up: a confirmation. We only email you about eSIMs you've bought.

Where do I find my ICCID?

The ICCID is your eSIM's ID number (it usually starts with 89). It's in your confirmation email, on your My eSIMs page, and in your phone: iPhone Settings → General → About, under the travel eSIM; Android Settings → About phone → SIM status.

I typed the wrong email address at checkout

Send us a message from the form at the bottom of the Help page with the correct address, the address you typed and roughly when you paid. Your eSIM's details went to the address you typed, so if that inbox isn't yours we'll sort it out with you before anything is installed.

How do I contact support?

Tap "Chat with us" on any page of the store: the assistant answers straight away, any time, and fixes most problems on the spot. Verify your email in the chat and it can look up your eSIM, re-send your install details, top it up or refund it. If it can't solve something, it passes your question to our support team with your details, and you'll get a reference number and a reply by email.

Troubleshooting

No service, slow data and installation problems.

I have signal but no internet

1. Turn on Data Roaming for the travel eSIM. 2. Make sure the travel eSIM is your mobile data line (iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data). 3. Turn Airplane Mode on for 10 seconds, then off. 4. Restart your phone. 5. Check you have data left on your My eSIMs page. If your phone asks for an APN, contact us and we'll send the right one for your plan.

My connection is slow

• Toggle Airplane Mode, or restart your phone, so it reconnects to the strongest network. • Try choosing a different network manually (see "How do I choose a network manually?"). • Check 5G/4G is allowed: iPhone Settings → Cellular → the travel eSIM → Voice & Data; Android → Preferred network type. • Move away from crowded places or indoors spots with weak signal. • Check how much data is left on your My eSIMs page.

My phone shows "SOS only" or "No Service" after landing

It can take a few minutes for the eSIM to register after you land. If it doesn't: 1. Check the travel eSIM is switched on and Data Roaming is on. 2. Turn Airplane Mode on and off. 3. Choose a network manually. 4. Restart your phone. An eSIM only connects in the countries its plan covers, so check the plan you bought includes the country you're in.

Installation fails or says the code is no longer valid

This usually means the eSIM has already been downloaded to a phone, or a previous attempt half-finished. Check Settings → Cellular (iPhone) or SIMs (Android): it may already be there. Don't keep retrying the same code. If it isn't on your phone, contact us with your order details and we'll check it.

My eSIM has disappeared from my phone

An eSIM can be removed by a factory reset, by "Reset Network Settings" on some phones, or by deleting it in settings. It usually can't be downloaded again with the same details. Contact us with your order details before buying a new one and we'll see what can be done.

Personal Hotspot won't work on my travel eSIM

Check the travel eSIM is your mobile data line and that Data Roaming is on, then turn Personal Hotspot off and on again. On some phones the hotspot uses whichever line was set for data when it was turned on. If it still won't work, contact us with your order details and we'll check your plan.

Still need help?

Ask the chat assistant at the top of this page. It answers straight away, can look up your eSIM once you verify your email, and fixes most problems on the spot. If it can't, it passes your question to our support team.
